Looking for Laos: Man of the Year - 2006
To All Readers:
It's almost time to select our Laos: Man of the Year - 2006. Normally VientianeTimes.com will select person(s) or organization(s) in December of each year. This December marks our 9th year of existence in the wild cyberspace.
This year we want something different. That is we want inputs from our readers. Without you, there is no need to update this site. Then, whom should we pick?
Please email us the name of person or organization (as well as their website if there is one) who helps (or contributes to) Laos very much. Your pick might influence us because we will weigh in all options. Your inputs are invaluable!

Laos: Man of the Year -- 2005 ==>> Lao Human Rights Council
This year marks the 8th anniversary of our website VientianeTimes.com
in which we have served our Lao community around the world -- either
in Laos, the United States, France, Canada, Australia, Thailand,
Japan, or other places
where Laotians live. By providing news & music relating
to Laos, VientianeTimes.com is the most visited Lao website on
this planet, period.
To coincide with our achievements we are very privileged to honor
"Laos: Man of the Year -- 2005". This year we select Lao Human Rights
Council (especially Dr. Vang Pobzeb who just passed away last
September) for their extraordinary works "to promote and defend human rights and civil rights of Hmong and Lao people around the world and end genocide in Laos against Hmong and other persecuted people in Laos."

Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts for Laotians
As we know, there are more than 100,000 Americans who are homeless after this
killing storm swept through the South. In those numbers, more than 100
Lao-Americans become homeless and seek a refuge at Lao temple in New
Iberia, Louisiana. If you are willing to help or need more info,
please read this story from VOA.
Also there are emails circulating by someone stating that there are more than
2,700 Laotians who are homeless and need help, I believe that is a scam.
Before you donate your hard-earned dollars, please be vigilant.
For now, bye bye, farewell, so long, adios and lakon!

P.S.: By the way, I did donate to American
Red Cross last week.

Webmaster got kicked in the ass...
Once a while I've received an email with a knock-out punch. Well, that is
democracy all about, isn't it? For now, let me step aside and have this reader
voice his/her opinion. Enjoy my comrades...
I am studying in US. I have been viewing the Vientianetimes website for few
months. I found the website contains many useful information and links. I hope
the website keep doing good job as being the middle man. However, i just
wonder what is the role and what is the purpose of having this website? Is it
for promoting Laos or against Laos or just act as a good media?

Body with one girl, but heart with another...
...
I cannot afford to look away from her nice body, sexy ass and her
short back, and when she turns around, I just keep looking at her -
beautiful legs, good-sized breasts and cute eyes. She might
think why this guy keeps looking at her. She is short (with
5" in high-heel shoes she is about 5' tall), cute, educated,
intelligent & smart, has a little-bit-dark skin (thought she was Cambodian
the first time we met), and speaks a perfect English... more

Our new PC is up
& running and it is overclockable!
We just upgraded
our 2-year-old Pentium III 900MHz PC (overclock from 750MHz) to a new
Celeron 2.2GHz processor (overclock from 2.0GHz). This new
system works fine for couple days now. Here is the price for all
upgrades. Motherboard is $64, 2.0GHz Celeron CPU $80, case $41
and GeForce4 Ti4200 graphic card $155.
NEC 19" flat monitor, 640MB
memory, 120GB hard drives, Audigy 2 sound card, CD-burner & floppy
drive come from our old system. For around $350, we got a good
system and it is used to update this site, sing karaoke, play games
and surf the Internet. Hope it lasts another two years. By
the way, real men overclock their CPUs.
For now, bye bye, farewell, so long, adios and lakon.

Another semester of school is over!
Yap, another semester of school
is finally over after the final exam last week. Now it is time
to work and save some money. No school until September that is
good for both body and mind. For now, I still have to work and
update this site though.
Oh, by the way, from May 07 to May 18,
2003, there are more than 6,500 times our readers download our music
clips from LaoBulletin.com, plus many more that we don't have any
record from AOL and Prodigy accounts that we use as backup systems.
Enjoy the spring, my comrades.
For now, bye bye, farewell, so long, adios and lakon.
